Bacharach at The Breman
4:00pm Reception
5:00pm Concert (60 – 75 mins)
In this hybrid of concert and cabaret, performers will tell the fascinating life story of composer, songwriter, and pianist Burt Bacharach. They’ll perform such classics as “Walk on By,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” and “Alfie.”
Burt Bacharach (1928-2023) revolutionized American popular music with his sophisticated melodies, unexpected chord progressions, and complex rhythms that both embraced, built upon, and then defied the conventions of Broadway, Pop, and Tin Pan Alley. Born to a Jewish family in Kansas City, Missouri, Bacharach studied classical music before finding his voice in popular song. He created some of the most memorable songs of the 1960s and 70s, blending jazz harmonies, Brazilian bossa nova rhythms, and classical influences into a sound that was unmistakably Bacharach-ian.
From his early work as Marlene Dietrich’s accompanist to his six Grammy Awards and three Academy Awards—we’ll tell Bacharach’s story and deliver his memorable hits with an accomplished local company of musicians and performers.
