Gary Deutsch, the author of “I’ve Got Levys in my Genes: An introductory guide to Jewish Genealogy” will be speaking about getting started in your genealogy endeavors. He and the book are serious about Jewish Genealogy, but he uses a light approach including examples of Jewish celebrities and stories with comedic themes.
Gary will discuss the process of starting with what you know and continuing through census and naturalization records, vital record documents, and tombstones. He will also describe tools to assist you in your research. The presentation will be followed with a workshop with members of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Georgia.
Skill level: Beginning
Gary has been researching his family Genealogy for over 40 years concentrating on Hungary and the Russian Empire. He is a former President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Georgia, Inc. and has taught various classes in the Atlanta area.
This program is presented in partnership with The Breman and will take place in the Draper Members Room in McElreath Hall.
